Here is a wonderful piece written by one of our members in Cologne and presented at our last Zoom meeting of the year on Wednesday 20th December 2023.

Cyber Christmas

Black Friday, cyber Monday, cross selling, green Monday, discount-code, black Friday week, Dark-Sale week.

What?

Joe is losing the overview. Spend all your money, now, not for Christmas. That’s all he is reading in the advertising. Just a few weeks to Christmas anyway. Will I get all my gifts now? And all of them online? No shop visits and no traffic jams to face. Home delivered.

But he won’t touch the jumper, won’t smell the perfume for his girlfriend before paying. It strikes him and confuses him at the same time. What sort of world has this become?

Well, he has an answer to all of this. This is the lifestyle of our modern world. Money and more money, faster and even faster, no more quality but more quantity. And more quantity, and more quantity, aaaahhhh. He could scream.
